Stories, animals and bedtime favourites for ages 3–6
Picture books for younger children in this section are mostly short, illustrated stories for roughly ages 3 to 6. You’ll find animal tales, bedtime books, school and friendship stories, simple fairy tales, and a fair number of seasonal and Christmas-themed books.
The range is mixed. Some books are funny and a bit silly, with dinosaurs, pirates, monsters or toilet humour. Others are gentler, built around family, reassurance, sleep, feelings, or everyday routines. There are also familiar characters and licensed stories alongside classic-style retellings.
A few authors appear more than once at the moment, including Jill Murphy, Nick Butterworth, Martin Waddell and Melanie Joyce, though stock may change. This category is fairly broad, so the books here can suit shared reading at home, preschool age children, or early independent browsing with an adult nearby.
If you need something simpler for very young children, see Baby & Toddler (0–3), which is aimed at an earlier stage. For children starting to read short texts themselves, Early Readers (5–7) is a better fit. If you want puzzles and hands-on tasks rather than storybooks, try Activity Books. Stock may change.
