Poems, plays, epics and stage classics
This section brings together verse and drama. You will find a mix of poetry collections, classic plays, verse anthologies, and older epic works that are often read alongside literature courses as well as for pleasure.
The strongest pattern here is clearly the classics. Shakespeare appears many times, alongside names such as Oscar Wilde, Homer, Dante, Chaucer, Marlowe, Chekhov, Pinter, Plath, Yeats, Dickinson and Carol Ann Duffy. Stock may change, so the balance between poetry and drama can shift.
There is a good spread of forms: sonnets, selected and collected poems, tragedies, comedies, modern playscripts, and myth-based or translated works. Some books are single-author editions, while others are themed anthologies around love, war, humour, childhood or remembrance.
