From epic worlds to stranger, darker fantasy
What’s here: this Fantasy category covers a fairly wide spread of styles. There are classic secondary-world novels, myth-leaning stories, urban fantasy, darker crossover books, and a good amount of YA fantasy.
You’ll see some recurring authors in the current stock, especially Neil Gaiman, Sarah J. Maas, Cassandra Clare, Terry Pratchett, Ursula K. Le Guin, and a few others. That gives this section a mix of older fantasy staples and newer popular series, though stock may change.
Some books here sit close to science fiction, horror, or magical literary fiction, which is normal for this genre. If you want spaceships and speculative technology rather than magic and myth, have a look at Science Fiction. If you want the darker, more unsettling side, Horror is a better fit.
There are quite a lot of titles in this category at the moment, including books for adult readers, teens, and some younger readers. For stories aimed more clearly at children, see Children’s Books. As usual, the exact mix changes over time.
