New York, 1926. The Roaring Twenties, jazz, Prohibition, flappers and coal-powered cars form the backdrop to an alternate history in which the United States is locked in a cold war with a vast British Empire that has only just buried Queen Victoria, her life artificially prolonged to the age of 107. In this dark, steampunk-tinged Manhattan of crowded streets, biplanes with crude rocket boosters and monsters lurking in the shadows, a masked vigilante known as the Ghost stalks the night. A series of targeted murders shocks the city: the victims are found with ancient Roman coins placed on their eyelids. The trail seems to lead to a group of Italian-American gangsters and their mysterious boss, dubbed „The Roman”. But the Ghost soon discovers that there is far more to the Roman than first appears. The killings are tied to bizarre phenomena, including moss-golems posing as mobsters and an occult plot to bring an ancient pagan god into the physical world in caverns beneath the city. As the Ghost closes in on the Roman and the heart of his deadly web, he must battle both human criminals and supernatural foes, relying on his arsenal of gadgets and unlikely allies to stop the Roman and prevent the imminent destruction of New York.
