New Spring is a prequel novel to Robert Jordan’s epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time. Set years before The Eye of the World, it follows the young Aes Sedai Moiraine Damodred and the Borderlands warrior al’Lan Mandragoran as the prophecy of the Dragon Reborn begins to unfold. In the aftermath of a devastating battle, Moiraine and Siuan learn of a secret foretelling that the Dragon has been reborn, and Moiraine dedicates herself to finding and protecting the child who may one day save the world from the Shadow. As she leaves the White Tower, she becomes entangled in the politics of Tar Valon, the rivalries among Aes Sedai, and the fragile balance between nations on the brink of war. The novel reveals the origins of Moiraine and Lan’s bond, offers a closer look at the White Tower and Aes Sedai traditions, and deepens the mythology of the Wheel of Time universe with a story of destiny, loyalty, sacrifice, and the first desperate attempts to stand against the Dark One’s designs.
