“Until the Full Moon Volume 1” is the first volume of Sanami Matoh’s supernatural boys’ love (BL) / shōjo manga, blending vampires, werewolves, gender transformation, romance and comedy. Marlo is half-werewolf, half-vampire, and on the night of the full moon he undergoes a mysterious transformation: he turns into a girl. Desperate to cure their son, Marlo’s parents call on Dr. Vincent, an old family friend. Marlo is determined to keep his condition secret from Vincent’s son David, a handsome vampire playboy. The secret doesn’t last long, and a new problem appears: David becomes very interested in Marlo’s female form. When a cure cannot be found, their parents come up with a drastic solution – an arranged marriage between Marlo and David. This volume mixes paranormal romance, gender-bender comedy, family expectations and queer themes (werewolf, vampire, shapeshifter, gender identity, arranged marriage, BL/yaoi) in a light, humorous tone.
